I'm getting a Go!Temp Thermometer, which runs off USB http://www.vernier.com/go/gotemp.html
Just wondering what's the maximum length I can get in a USB extender cable?
Ascent seem to only sell up to 5 metres.. There's some on trademe thats a 6 metres.. even 30metre cables (with 'amplifier')

Can I safely run something on a 5 or 6 metre USB extension cable without need for an amplifier or powered USB hub?

Cheers,
ZollyMonsta

Anyone? :)

I recieved the probe today. It's USB 1.1.  Works well. Need to extend it to reach outside however.

I think a USB extender max at 5 meters. This is something related to power.

Can we use that thermometer for cooking? Have a laptop in the kitchen...

Ahh.. Thought so.  These 'amplifiers' on trade me, are they the 'real deal' ?

Yes, you probably could.  The probe (not the handle) can be put into liquids and can measure -20c to 110c

I thought about playing with it for a while, like testing my hot water temp etc :)

My server cupboard (door open) is currently running at 19.5c
:)
