been using DropBox for some time and hadn't realised how much I depend on it. Recently it's been showing as not connected. Eventually I uninstalled it and went to the website and disconnected it from my laptop. (Only connection.) When I tried to restore it there was no way to do that. So I tried reinstalling the app on my laptop only to be told there was no internet connection - which obviously there is or I wouldn't be here.

Had a look on-line but it suggests things like adjusting firewall settings, etc. Trouble is neither the router firewall not the ZoneAlarm firewall seem to have the settings they're talking about.

This is more than a minor annoyance - I closed my office some years ago and service clients over the Internet (E-mail, Skype, TeamViewer, Dropbox), so it's a key part of my work - and as an accountant I'm feeling the pressure of 31 March fast approaching.

Does anyone have any suggestions - even on where I could go for help - using TeamViewer lets people from anywhere see what's happening.

Thanks

Most likely its the firewall on your PC.

Check the firewall settings for applications it may have been blocked

Thanks but I don't know much about these things. My Zonealarm firewall doesn't have blocked applications as such. It does have applications listed - so I assume you mean the smart defence, trust level and four settings (out / in trusted / interent). All are at maximum levels / ticked.

If it's not that then I'm obviously looking in the wrong place.

1. Settings for the dropbox application

Smart Defense - custom

Trust level - Super

Outbound trusted - Allow

Outbound internet - Allow

Inbound trusted - Allow

Inbound internet - Allow

2. Then, go to Dropbox - Preferences - Proxies - Select Auto - Apply

Whew - after the fun I've had with other areas, this was relatively simple - I went through regedit and deleted all references to Dropbox - removed all directories (had to logoff and on) then reinstalled. And what do you know - it didn't work. But this time fiddling with the proxy settings (from auto to none) worked - whereas it hadn't before.

So dropbox is now working - without the offline message it's had for a few days - so sorry to have vented here - it's been a long hard week and this was the last straw.
