Some how I have done something that has casued something called mystartsearch to open automatically as the homepage of any internet browser, whether it be chrome, or mozilla or IE.

I have tried to reset the homepages, even following the instructions from mystartsearch.

Do you guys know how to fix this?

Have you tried running MalwareBytes at all? Pretty sure that was enough to clean it out.

Uninstall from Control Panel, change start page on your browser back to what was before and then run Malwarebytes as above.

the above posts remove the software, but they dont remove the browser redirect

Adwcleaner is also very good at removing this crapware

Dont forget to remove the extension in crome and adwcleaner removes most of this bloatware

I had a similar one today taken ages getting rid of. iastartsearch. Hadnt taken notice and downloaded from cnet and ended up with this. In control panel removed storm watch and silent install etc that it installed but it would not uninstall iastartsearch. I removed folders from program files that stayed behind. I would change browser back to my homepage but each time restart it was back to iastartsearch. malwarebytes, windows defender and adaware would not remove it. Have done a system restore and so far so good. Just concerned if there might be a root kit there. running windows 8.1

so you may need to do a system restore for mystart as well

HTPC Intel Pentium G3258 cpu, Gigabyte H97n-wifi motherboard, , 8GB DDR3 ram, onboard graphics. Hauppuage HVR 5500 tuner, Silverstone LC16M case, Windows 10 pro 64 bit using Nextpvr and Kodi

I battled this one twice, the first time i swear i got completely rid of it and then a couple of weeks later its back with a vengeance, no matter what i did it kept regenerating somehow, I ended up re-installing windows and starting fresh, mind you I was planning a clean re-install before this occurred so kill two birds with the proverbial single stone

there is no need to do a system restore.

you have just missed removing the browser redirect from the web browser shortcut.

you cant just change your home page

Having one simiolar not too long ago.

Start Bar, All Programs, Right click Internet Explorer, Properties, then remove the gunk at the end of iexplore.exe.
