Hi there, I want to buy a 500 GB 3.5 hard drive but I'm not sure which brand is good and what to look for while buying a hard drive. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Most drives are similar in that size so look for a drive with 7200rpm and 16MB cache. Many brands to choose from, i've used Western Digital for years and never had a problem. Currently using the CaviarSE and Raid series SATA2 drives. Seagate is also a good brand, wouldn't touch Samsung from word of mouth but don't discount as they can be bought for cheap.

If you want to get really picky, go to the manufacturers websites and download the pdf documents describing the drive performance.

Also, are you after speed or just a storage drive?
