I've been using Ascent for a while, due to my belief that they had the cheapest prices (and freight is free).
Can anyone suggest some other suppliers who will supply to Joe Consumer with comparable prices?

Pricespy is the best way to compare however many of the cheapest suppliers aren't the best around when it comes to stock levels and delivery but it does allow you to easily compare pricing.

I've got a few things in the past from www.aquilatech.co.nz and found them to be very good. The guy is based in Lower Hutt as well.

I'll second that.

You can't beat www.acquire.co.nz for product catalogue though, who I use for mostly workplace purchases.

Ascent certainly aren't the cheapest, in fact they tend to fall more on the expensive side - that said however I would rarely order parts from anyone else these days. There service and support is simply first class and (IMO) worth paying extra for.

In the past I have used www.pp.co.nz and always had prompt hassle free service.

I agree, Ascent aren't the cheapest, but their customer service is second to none.  You won't regret paying a little bit more with Ascent.  Cheapest != Best
