I was looking at the belkin wemo power switch to power on/off the pc/router in the network cabinet remotely over the internet or lan.

But the wemo has limited functionality.

So I found this on ebay...

If not, I was thinking of grabbing something from overseas and using adapter plugs . Any recommendations?

Ubiquiti do a range called mPower but not sure if this range is available in NZ.

Thanks, for the replies. There seem to be very few products like this in NZ . I recall jaycar used to sell something but I cannot find it now.

The Aviosys 9255 comes close but only one outlet. The mpower does not seem to be sold here.

Very hard to find these things, and you need something you can be assured the quality is OK so I don't burn down the house.

I have several of this one for aquarium lights, water features, pool pump etc as the timer is much easier to set on a smart phone than on a horrid UI with a tiny non backlit LCD like most plug in timers have.

Friend has one of those, uses it for powercycling a cheap nasty DVR that keeps crashing and the router that also keeps crashing. They have portfowards exposing the DVR to the whole internet because their security installer said that was ok. They ignore me when I say its a dumb idea and just bought something to reboot it remotely.

I would encouragere you to ask gowifi.co.nz about the mpower stuff. They import other items from that manufacturer and may be happy to special-order some mpower stuff for you. We use their radio gear and it is high quality.

I've had a quick look at the specs. The EU version is 220-250v, the US version is 110-125v so definitely need the EU version and an appropriate adapter.

Thanks, I looked at the product but they don't have ping / reboot ability which would be quite nice. The mpower products seem aimed more at home automation than remote network/computer power specifically. They do look nice though.

Experience with different vendors tells me that just because you have not seen an AU/NZ plug in their marketing, doesn't mean they don't actually produce a version with this configuration.

If you are looking for something a little more serious have a look at the locally distributed Rackpower enLogic series which are 19 inch rack mountable

They also have (or had) a version with 4 outlets as well, IP Power 9258. From memory, it cost me under $100 to import one from the US. Note, it has US power points, but was 1/3 the price of the international version that was available in NZ. There was a variant with ping/reboot functionality too I believe.

I used one for a few years along with a script which would power cycle my ADSL router when it stopped responding.

Thanks, the DLI looks perfect . I've fired off an email to gowifi. I'll be interested in how much gowifi sells DLI unit? Not on their website either. Would you know?

It is difficult to find something locally, and the market for these here seems mainly commercial/industrial.

NZ suppliers I contacted so far have prices starting from around $450+gst for even the simplest controllers.
