I occasionally receive a few 'returned' emails under 'delivery report' with non-existent destination errors on my gmail account.

I use gmail web client, and windows live.

I was wondering if my gmail or pc had been hacked, or whether the entire  email is constructed to trick me somehow.

I'd hate to think my gmail account is being used to send out spam.

Any ideas?  Here is an sample of the delivery report....

Hello, this is the mail server on powerstyler.net.

I am sending you this message to inform you on the delivery status of a
message you previously sent. Immediately below you will find a list of
the affected recipients; also attached is a Delivery Status Notification
(DSN) report in standard format, as well as the headers of the original
message.

<myemailname@vertisinc.com> delivery failed; will not continue trying

Nope. Most likely someone is using your email in the sender's address which can be done easily.

What MF said. This is what SPF is meant to prevent. I guess some recipient email servers don't work with SPF and therefore don't know to discard the emails that someone has sent using your email address.

Not much you can do about it unfortunately.
