i have a phillips 151ax lcd monitor which works perfectly with my desktop pc.  i loaned it to a friend who is builting a new system with the asrock alivenf6g-vsta m/b which has a on-board vga.

during its boot-up, we could see the system specs and the ms xp pro logo flashing on the 151ax.  after that, the 151ax just turned black and we could not see a thing.   but we could see that his system is working with a normal crt monitor!

we downloaded the latest bios and drivers for the new m/b and the 151ax but to no avail.

where have we gone wrong?  thanks.

What resolution is Windows XP set to?

If the resolution is not compatible with the monitor, it may just not turn on at all.

many thanks for your tip, and you're right!

we played with the resolution and refresh rate and managed to get the lcd working.  we got to run at 1024X768 @ 60.

and thanks for the prompt response too.
