I bought this 'Western Digital Scorpio 80GB 5400RPM ATA100 8MB Notebook HDD' for $80 from www.qmb.co.nz, and my desktop computer does not recognized the External HDD when I plug it in, I even used the DC V5 power supply thingy I had for more power, I tried two different USB cables (those with two heads), still, doesn't work (not really).

When I brought it home, the first time I used it, it didn't work, but after a while like few minutes, it worked again. Because of that, I took it back to the shop, it has 1 year warranty, they formatted & fix it for me and told me to try it again, and I did, but still didn't work out, so I was like "stuff it" and kept it in drawer. 'Til today, I decided to give it a try and it worked perfectly, then I copied ALL MY DATAS into it and deleted the original ones, it was done smoothly, no error and stuff. But after I restart my computer, it cannot be recognized anymore, and the thing is, ALL DATAS ARE IN IT!!! Luckily, the warranty has not end. I called them, they said they will fix it for me, + additional fees for getting back the datas. OMG! I lost all my data because of their stupid External HDD, STINK! So, please help me!

Remember to plug it directly to your computer, not to a USB HUB.

Have you tried this on another PC yet?
