Hey guys, just upgraded from ddr2 3gb ram to ddr2 8gb ram but it seems i cant use the full 8gbs as the pc just wont boot up. its ok with just 4gb in. i have updated bios through msi live update but no joy. have supplied a picture of the specs and the board.

Any ideas do i need to change anything in the bios ?

The motherboard can only support up to 4GB of RAM. I doubt there's anything you can change in the BIOS.

Ask who you bought the ram from if they'll swap it for 2X2GB DDR2 sticks of Ram as that is all that the motherboard supports if they don't want to do a swap ask for a refund as it is not fit for purpose....

From the manual ::

Memory Support • DDRII 533/667/800 SDRAM (2GB Max) • 2 DDRII DIMMs (240pin / 1.8V) • Dual channel

So 2GB per DIMM slot for a total of 4GB in dual channel mode

Unless the OP specifically asked the store to supply suitable RAM for the board, the is no "not fit for purpose" claim.

If you're lucky they might swap it, but there is no obligation.

Thanks guys, i bought them from aliexpress for $23 so no worries on the return. 4gb ram works ok so will just stick with that for now until i upgrade to a new motherboard in the near future.

A new motherboard is very unlikely to use DDR2 RAM.
