Hi, I've just been given and HP Pro 3000 SFF desktop PC (WE568PA) and I need to get some memory for it.

4 banks, max 2GB per bank, total max memory 8GB

Looking at the HP Support website I need DDR3-SDRAM non-EEC PC3-10600 DDR3-1333 MHz-compliant , 240 pin.

However is not as simple to find. Aquire does not have any in stock and their current lead time is 7+ working days.

BPTech does seem to have any, but that a bit of a grey area.

Google searches just coming back with Amazon, eBay and trade me.

It's just "normal" DDR3 ram. Any speed > 10600 is fine and there is plenty about. These only go to 8Gb anyway so 2Gb modules are the way to go. Surprised you are having trouble finding any?

I may have some, I got some from HP but they never worked in my machine for whatever reason, i gave up with the process. I also tried some I got from PB Tech, same spec, still didn't work. 2GB modules.

Can check the specs when i get home and let you know.

Never been used, just installed and then removed and put back in their cases.

I think the problem I've been having is searching for "DDR3 PC3-10600 2GB".

Nothing necessarily wrong with your keywords there, but yes you'll likely be overwhelmed by a great number of irrelevant search results.

DDR3-1333 is the same as PC3-10600

As long as you don't buy notebook memory (SO-DIMM) you'll be fine.

You are also looking for non-ECC as opposed to ECC and RDIMMs for workstations/server boards/chipsets.

Desktop memory is just DIMM sometimes also referred to by vendors as UDIMM.

Okay, I found what I was looking for on Aquire KVR13N9S6. But I have another Identical machine that would also need an upgrade. Let me know what you have got.

I have also found a datasheet from Kingston and all the specifications line up.

Go to the Kingston website, they have a search tool that will give you an exact Kingston part number for matching RAM

These machines don't seem to be overly fussy, I have a couple, they have various bits of RAM in them. Provided it's DDR3, non-ECC, unbuffered stuff (which is the norm for desktop RAM anyway) and all the modules are 2Gb or less, it should work just fine. HTH :) The trick is finding 2Gb DDR3 modules at a cheap enough price to be worthwhile...

I finally found the recommend memory from Kingston after doing a Google site search on the the Kingston website. Only to find that the memory chips KTH9600B/2G has been discontinued. May be this explains why I was not able to find my machine using the Kingston memory search tool.

hp 2gb ddr3-1333 dimm memory, 2gb 1Rx8 PC3 - 10600U-9-11-A1 x 2 modules is what I have.

Okay the new memory modules I ordered don't work (likely I only open one box of the four). I seem that I missed understood one vital requirement and that's DIMMs needs to have 8 or 16 SDRAM chips as DIMMs with 4 SDRAM are not supported.

Historically I have never had such a problem with ordering RAM until now.

Hopefully I can return 3 of the 4 boxes.

ram compatibility is a well known issue with SOME hp's , has been for many many years.
Ive come across HP RAM compatibility issues many times. Unfortunately, its often a try it & see sort of thing

Luckily one of our suppliers lets us return RAM if it doesnt work.
