Hi got a new IPS-AHVA monitor, W-LED lighting.

I never thought about burn in until when I powered it on and plugged in, it gave me a huge warning saying don't leave the screen static for too long or you risk burn in. THe manual says don't leave a static screen for 30 minutes.

Now I'm a bit worried. Just a bit.

Anyone can help me? Thanks

Note: only used laptops for the last 10 years or so

the LCD part should be fine, but OLED do wear out over time.  If that's some kind of hybrid, then i expect it will drop in brightness in frequently used parts of the screen, if you look at any mobile OLED that is a few years old you can clearly see the parts which are lit up most are dim

I have had massive cases of retention, but nothing permanent.

My overpriced HP laptop is absurdly bad for it, can read text that was on screen for a short time. Minimize things and you can still see their menus over the desktop, but it goes away pretty quickly.

just set your screen to sleep after 15 mins and change your background regularly

I have a few screens that have image retention if you leave them on the same picture for a while. But when you turn it off for a while and back on it disappears. It was a problem with plasmas and CRTs, and it is a problem with OLED too, where the burn in can be permanent..

had an older LCD screen, used it purely as a graph/statistics display.

After a good 4 years of using it for this (it was easily double that in age mind you) the lines of where i would have different windows aligned were very clear.

turning it off and on did nothing to improve it, i retired it eventually. went to use it a few months later for testing with and it had finally given up its ghost.

The pixels need work to come right, just staticly displaying something else will not clear up. One of my screens had a thing on it to exercise all the pixels in the menu and it just seemed to do a checkerboard pattern that moved around somewhat.

changing the background is a good idea. screen sleep is a good idea. both of which I do, so shouldn't need to worry eh
