Hi Guys,

My pc is currently running a AMD r7 260x GPU with i5 750 2.66ghz processor. I am thinking of upgrading the GPU (Along with a ssd) so games like battlefield 1, titanfall 2 etc run a lot better than 20-30fps.

But I'm not sure if this will give me the performance I need as my CPU is quite old.

So please tell if me if it is worth getting a new graphics card say radeon RX 470. Or is it a waste of time/money given my CPU?

ASUS Full HD Screen. Don't have a budget just interested in if its worth upgrading the gpu.

You'll be doing okay to upgrade your CPU, an RX 470 8GB of RX 480 8GB would go pretty well in there.

One thing you'll need to do though, if you haven't already, is invest in an aftermarket CPU cooler, and overclock that CPU like hell.

You'll want to do a bit of research into the Overclocking process - you should be able to get that CPU up to around 4GHz if you really play around and put in some effort.

Hey guys,

Yesterday I got a new Saphire nitro+ RX470 4gb and a 600w Be Quiet PSU.

Battlefield 1 runs great at 45-60fps on High settings.

Titanfall 2 also runs great at close to ultra settings too.

I'm pretty stoked with performance so far (I don't care about getting 60+ FPS) although I haven't yet spent a fair amount of time testing it.

So I guess even with an old i5 750 2.6ghz cpu and 12gb ram you can still get decent FPS playing the latest games.

Next year I will look at upgrading the CPU and motherboard etc.

Yup, its surprising what old h/ware will still run. Had a mate recently running Overwatch on a Core 2 Duo system with a 4850 video card, looked crap (to me anyway) but was playable :)

Even my PC is on the "low end" of things, but I still get up to 100FPS in Overwatch, and run games that are deemed too resource hungry for my system, such as The Witcher 3 etc.

I was looking at upgrading my video card recently, but checking stats etc, it wouldnt actually be a major change for me, just newer tech. So putting funds towards a new system later this year instead.
