Ryzen is AMD latest CPU and information seems to be coming out almost daily with that in mind I though I should create a thread for discussion.

Information so far got through rumors and leaks.

Pricing:

(obtained by various leaks from retailers and wholesalers example, amazon  and amazon 2 both bundles with 3rd party coolers):

Performance obtained through various leaks the best being AMD press only event "Ryzen Tech Day" and put into charts:

Maybe the tables are turning back to AMD"s favor due to the price point.
Still, Im invested in the Intel camp and wont be changing until they are proven.

I've not been following it all too closely lately, but this looks encouraging!  I really hope they have a hit on their hands with this architecture. Things have kinda stagnated in the CPU world lately IMO... more competition would be good.

It should be noted that the intel 7700k (fast quad cores) will still have the single threaded performance advantage but the R7 1800x Cinebench single threaded score was 162 thats not slow it's actually a decent amount faster than the i5 7500 at 155.

In multi threaded tasks however the New AMD Ryzen 7 1800x should be the fastest 8 core on the market when it releases on the 2nd of March.

I'm interested the the overclocking performance of Ryzen.

My 6700K is at 4.8Ghz and gets 1,113 for multi threaded and 219 for single threaded.

I doubt you will get that on an 8 core CPU tomshardware managed 4.3Ghz on the 6900k for eg. You will also need very good cooling owing to Ryzen having a small die size (192mm^2) water cooling would work best.

What voltage are you running the 6700k at I only managed to get mine up to 4.7Ghz and that was running 1.4v.

1.4v, on an Asus Maximus VIII Gene mobo, H100i cooler and some Silverstone 650w 80plus gold PSU.

Wow this stuff looks outstanding. Pity I cant justify an upgrade, only running a skylake i5 and its still quite new. But if I did need to upgrade I would probably pick this stuff. Who cares if its from team red. The performance per $ looks amazing.

For me to purchase a 6900K would set me back close to 3K with a decent graphics card. So to get it with a massive discount, would be ideal.

I want to see what the public says after march 2nd in the US with the actual reviews to verify the media hype.

I would be really interested in the Ryzen 5 as a midrange quad core as I have been dreaming about an i5 system for a while. They are only releasing the 7 series for now and the 5 and 3 series much later on.

PB have a Pre-Order and it is all 7 series chips -> https://www.pbtech.co.nz/ryzen?qr=banner_topindex_extra_new_3493

The performance is looking really promising though and I am excited by AMD rather than expecting to be disappointed by yet another chip that will not measure up to the equivalent Intel in any category except for cheapness.  I do think it is a bit funny they have just aped the version scheme directly from Intel with the 3, 5 and 7 series chips.
