Hello there well i am looking at possibly either buying a new desktop computer or upgrading my laptop - Which ever is both easiest and cheapest if possible. I enjoy playing a certain game online and when i play it my laptop seems to be working HARD to keep the air running through it because i know that it cannot really cope.

If i choose to buy a new Desktop computer i would be looking at some sort of gaming PC if possible within my budget ($2000) however i would be able to stretch it to $2500 if possible however i am trying not to :)

I was looking at maybe buying this PC here: It seems like a good PC for the price..any suggestions on it or would anyone know of a better one? http://www.noelleeming.co.nz/computers/computers/desktops/cpu-monitor/compaq-sr5340-wf1907-presario-sr5340an-19-lcd-monitor/prod99909.html

My current Laptop is: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4107
The only thing i have changed on the laptop is i have bought another 512MB ram stick to bring my Total Ram to 1GB.

All help/suggestions is truely appreciated :).

I would prefer to be able to go into the store and preferably a store that is well established eg noel leeming, harvey norman etc. But computer shops like Atech and what not are appreciated also :)

Thanks in advance :)

It depends how much you value portability.

I think upgrading laptops is not worth it apart from the extra ram you already have in it.

Before buying anything else is it optimised ie defragged etc? Also you sure the problem isn't your internet connection.

If you are sure its a computer problem I would go with something like the following:

1. Desktop - http://www.pcgear.co.nz/product.php?productid=2860&cat=276&page=1

or

2. Laptop - http://www.dse.co.nz/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/481eee3808c942cc273fc0a87f3b06b9/Product/View/XC4723 if you can still get it.

common sense is not very common

Hey Thanks for your reply!

The PC looks great and it even has 4G ram so thats not bad :).

I will take both of those computers into account.

Also no its not an internet connection. I dont think the air is flowing through my laptop enough because it cant keep up with everything. My current laptop isnt very good i know but yeah.

Thanks a lot for your help :)

Would anyone else be able to offer some ideas please?

Why not get a new laptop?

Anyways if getting a desktop I would suggest getting a custom assembled machine as suggested by other members in this thread.

If you want to get a NEW notebook then i think these might interest you:

Toshiba Satellite A300/M00 Notebook

Acer Aspire AS6920G-812G32Bn Notebook

The graphic cards on both these machines are decent for gaming and the Acer has a Blu-ray drive!

P.S: Queen's Birthday is coming next weekend so watch out for the good deals.
