Apologies for the incorrect forum. Nothing seems to fit.

Any clues how to change ink cartridges on a HP 6960 when the caddy refuses to move to the correct cartridge changing location?

I've successfully printed today, but when I open the lid to change to new cartridges the caddy stays where it is. Stays right, but is meant to move to the centre.

Frustration setting in, foul words used at this device & getting near to biffing it & buying a new one. And manufacturers wonder why there so much e-waste when a new home printer is 1/3 of the price of a replacement set of inks

Any assistance appreciated.

We had an HP either the same or similar to yours and I recall the same problem - but sorry not how I resolved it.

Have you seen this:

Very frustrating that posting links on gz using IPad and Safari doesn’t work properly.

What Ive done in the past ...
Start a print, of any sort

disconnect power part way through the print (pull the plug so it just stops where it is)
the carriage will be somewhere in the middle-ish. You can move it to where you need it & change the cart
Remove paper (carefully)

This is a last resort sort of thing. You will then need to remove the stuck paper .

Does the printer register the fact that the lid is open?

Pretty much what the only solution I could come up with too.

Ink successfully changed. New levels reporting. Repetitive message that printer was shut down incorrectly.

Seems to be working as designed, until next ink change & I guess that'll be new printer time.

Check the microswitch that should be getting activated when you open the lid

ha, these plastic fantastics arnt designed to be easily fixed.
Could be difficult to split open , possibly an optical switch(sensor) and not easily replaced .
