I'm looking at getting a ghost/dummy adaptor so I can stream steam games to my Shield TV without having the monitor on at the same time.

Interested to know if anyone has used one of these adaptors and can you still have a monitor plugged in as well for when you want to use the pc when not streaming. 
eg dummy adaptor connected to HDMI and monitor connected to display port.
