Do they use 365 at work? You get 5 installations so just use the work subscription at home too. Perfectly legit and that's why you get 5 installs...

Yes, we do use it at work but all licenses get used.

Licensing is per user. Do you, as one user, have 5 PCs with office installed at work? MS allow every user to have 5 installs so that they can install on their home PC. Just log into portal.office.com with your work account and install from there. Optionally check with your IT dept!

I think this is incorrect. If you have Office 365 Personal, you can install on 1x PC only. If you have Office 365 Home, you can install on 5x PCs.

If your work licenses are Office 365 E3 licenses or higher you can have up to 5 installs. Easy way to find out how many install's your allowed and have used is to check 'Install status' under 'My Account' in the portal.

Or for smaller businesses it’s still 5 installs (e.g. Business Premium)

Have a look at PB Tech. They usually have some good pricing compared to the bigbox and Microsoft pricing..
