Oddball question: does anyone know if Dell monitors sold in NZ are built-to-order (assembled from components), or shipped after payment from pre-assembled stock? If the latter do they ship from stock in NZ? (when ordering through Dell NZ website).

My last ultrasharp came from Australia when I ordered through our account manager. That isn't to say they aren't all from there.

Do you have a specific model in mind. Due to my job I can see what stock is in NZ. for example there are lots of P2419H, U2417H  and U2715H but only 1x U3415W

To access local stock you would have to go through PB-Tech, Playtech, Mighty ape etc though :-)

Can you tell when was the last time there was any S2419H.

Also can you tell me why all Dell NZ website monitors have listed delivery times of 3-5 working days. Considering Dell just told me that almost all monitors are shipped from Asia to Australia, then onto NZ, which would make said delivery times technically impossible. And considering there are never delays due to parts shortages, as they also confirmed all listed monitors are from pre-assembled stock. Yup... its a doozy.

Once upon a time it use to be warehoused locally if I recall. Poss one of NZPs arms. And if you got one it was as simple as a stock transfer/pickup by courier from there.

Now I think its DB Schenker

no S2419H .. doesn't look like any ever .. If you order from the website they tend to fly them in to keep the delivery time down

Nope... Dell does Ocean shipping to NZ, not sure where you head that.

The last Dell monitor I bought from the website (consumer range) arrived a week with an Air NZ manifest sticker on the box. It may have been dispatched to me from a warehouse in Auckland (hence the quick delivery) but it seemed to have gotten there via Air NZ.
