Hi everyone,

My wife has a HP Pavilion laptop 15 series from 2014. Specs are i5 1.7 ghz CPU and 8GB of RAM onboard.

It's only used for emails, Facebook and trade me.

The problem we've got with it is that the middle row of keys on the keyboard don't work anymore, well most of them don't work. This has probably come about due to my son playing a game called "Roblox" and button mashing...

On the row by the Caps Lock, the key's that work are only "G" and "H". This makes writing anything rather difficult.

Does anyone know of any Wellington HP authorized, or independent services centers that could repair this fault?

Or is it likely that the cost of fixing is half the cost or a replacement?

Has anyone done this job themselves?

Thanks.

Is it actually used as a laptop or just left on a desk ? If the latter, cheaper to use a USB keyboard/mouse.

Being an older laptop, it will be fixable but probably at a decent cost - you could try buying a new keyboard for it via eBay for a few $$ and try replacing it yourself.

Sadly, it's used as a laptop, usually evenings, on the couch, while watching TV..

That model HP Pavilion 15-p0xx the keyboard should be easy to source and install.

You shouldn't even need to crack the unit open, just undo a few screws and the keyboard assembly lifts up out.

Plenty of times .  :-)
Some are easy, some are a nightmare requiring the case to be 'split'

Some laptop repairers will do the whole job for what it would cost to buy just the kb in NZ .
