I'm looking for a security cable for my desktop computer however most of these cables appear to be Kensington locks which my chassis (and I'm quite sure) my motherboard don't have. Does anybody know if there is anything out there specifically for desktop chassis?

How can it secure the desktop, the desktop (chassis) doesn't have a Kensington lock...

Does your monitor have a Kensington slot? That PBtech kit includes a plate for devices without a lock, but I think you would need something with a Kensington slot to lock the end into

Yes my monitor has a Kensington lock but not the motherboard in my desktop doesn't appear too...

The only use for these security locks is to slow the person down a few minutes or that they give up in frustration. Does the side panel have some sort of basic lock or locking point(for a padlock or security cable) at the back? If not then a security cable is no use if they undo 3 screws and pull out your graphics card etc.

It's for a time I will be away from the desktop so could remove the graphics card and store that elsewhere. I'll think more about this tomorrow.

Find somewhere else to work that doesn't make you so paranoid about losing your gear? Seriously, even considering removing your graphics card every time your away from your pc is taking "windows key + L" just a little too far!

Perhaps you could elaborate just a little more on why you need this and we could possibly provide some better solutions.

The desktop is at home, not work. By time away I meant the computer would go into storage for a month or two, no way I'm re-seating a graphics card every day...

Right, gotcha.

Perhaps a secure container / box that you could place the case in? Like a pelican case or similar that can be locked and suddenly becomes rather difficult for someone to get into or walk away with?

Could a lock be placed on a door? If not the room itself, then a cupboard / wardrobe?

There are cases that are lockable like you're after, but they are normally enterprise / commercial types and more than likely won't fit the hardware into them that you may have.

Would a hasp and stable attached to the case and locked with a padlock work? Ugly, but could be effective and the cable from the Kensington to your monitor could be locked to it as well.
