I've been given a flash new 28" 4k monitor to use along with my 23" Full HD screen at work. (and maybe the odd spot of gaming if I drag my PC into the office ;) )

The built in video card is running them both, but can see its struggling a bit when using the 4k screen, so a video card upgrade is being looked at.

I'm only running office apps etc, so dont need anything flash, just something that'll handle the 2 screens.

I assume a 2GB Nvidia 1030GT do the trick ?

Lurking.
Parents Hp 3310 mini tower cant cope with 4k mp4 videos of grandchildren. Converting 4k to 1080 struggles sometimes with scenes with lots of movement. Drivers no longer updated by manufacturer...

Gaming on a 4k monitor definitely requires more VRAM but since you won't really be doing that you don't need anything like that.

If you'll just be doing standard productivity office sort of stuff, any graphics card that supports 4k should be fine (as in the HDMI/DP ports are the right spec).  What is the cpu you are running it off currently?

The GDDR5 version of the 1030 should be fine for office 4k. Beware of the SDDR4 version that's now available.

Being an office PC, is this a pre built? OEMs don't always provide full spec PCIe power so some GPUs that don't have external power ports don't always work.

As Andib said get one that specifically mentions GDDR5 like this PBtech listing.

And yes, 4k = min 2GB for spreadsheets etc, 4GB+ (as much as you can afford haha) for any sort of gaming.

Yup def no gaming :)

Did see the DDR4 vs5 issues elsewhere.

Its an HP box, bit of an older one I think - (checks specs) - Intel Core i5 2400 @ 3.10GHz  12GB DDR3
