Autoplay is driving me crazy. At the moment I am visiting CNN a lot as I follow the disintegration of the American political system. But it seems to be utterly impossible to turn off the damned CNN autoplay videos. The latest version of Chrome is supposed to do that, but it doesn't seem to work for me. Neither does anything else. I have tried every trick I can find, including HTML5 and Flash blocking extensions and site plugin access blocking in settings.

I have tried other browsers but I am used to Chrome and would like to continue using it. I just need to be able to stop CNN videos in particular from autoplaying. The only thing that seems to work for me is disabling javascript, but that messes up the site too much. Does anyone have any ideas for this?

Figure out the address of the server that the videos play from. Add an entry to your HOSTS file to block it.

I forgot it. That seems to happen a lot in my old age. Have you made it your life's work to check up on me? At least I got a decent answer this time.

OK. It's not the first time I have forgotten an earlier post. I notice I am becoming very absent-minded. I guess this is just another symptom.
