Hello.

I have installed Powerchute Business Edition on a WHS2011 machine. I would like it to email me when the power goes off.

I am unsure what to enter for the SMTP server settings. I don't have a SMTP server so will I be unable to receive any notifications?

Thank you.

@jase2985 I have an outlook address and a gmail address set up in Outlook365. It does not show the actual SMTP details. I know older versions of Outlook showed everything, but this new version shows nothing.

Use your favourite search engine to seach for "Outlook SMTP settings" or "GMail SMTP settings".

If using GMail, note that you will need to enable less secure apps or application passwords, and the former at least may randomly stop working as Google seems to like turning this off on users.

Sign up for a free SMTP2GO account if you don't want to jump through Google's hoops to get authenticated.

Hmm yes, I recall having authentication and security issues just setting up my gmail in Outlook.

Thank you @chevrolux , I will have a look at smtp2go.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

SMTP2GO requires that I own a domain, which I do not.

Will have to take my chances with outlook or gmail.

EDIT : Yay! I just got an email from the UPS software, thank you everyone. I used outlook settings in the end.

Got excited too soon. Emails are working, but Powerchute is not sending all the ones I ask for.

Is there other software that can be used with APC UPS that will send emails and shutdown a machine, and start it up again when power is restored?

Yes, you may need to set up a NUT server.
