Hey guys, Im just after some reconmendations on how to improve my pc.

So far i have:

E8400 Cpu 3.0Ghz
Asus P5k Pro MoBo
Geil DDR2-667 (5-5-15)  2 x 1gb
XFX 8600gts
Seagate 250gb HD 8mb cache
Silverstone TJ04 case
500w psu

My system just doesnt seem to be preforming at the level i think it should be. I had a 940d cpu before and it seemed to run at applications at the same speed, the cpu scores were only about 100 points different in 3dmark06. I ahve recently formatted my pc with xp sp2 however i have seen no improvements.

Im wondering if my system is being held back buy the ram or HD with only 8mb cache,......

Cheers

I wouldnt imagine 667 would hold you back that much and 8mb cache should only affect loading times i'd say.
Though those are the only two things as you mention that could cause this.

Also formatting usually makes and PC seem really fast, so its odd that it doesnt feel as fast as the 940d, though i have no idea what the D series were like, i was out of the loop then.

Run a burn in test and see if anything falls over..... it'd be a start.
But Id potentially suspect HDD...... got another HDD you can throw in as a test ?
