Hi...

Im currently looking for an audio player (.wav/mp3 etc) that has basic scheduling facility...
i.e. play 2 (or 3/4/5) songs from one directory, then 1 song from another directory then repeat...
Needs to do it on the fly though (not create in the morning for the whole day) as I am constantly changing file directorys etc and want it to be kept as current as possible...

Dont want to deal with scheduler programs creating playlists etc then applying the playlist to WinAMP etc... (too complicated and time consuming for my needs!!)

Needs to be as automated and reliable as possible too!

ANY IDEAS???

Can you elaborate on what are you trying to achieve?

There's probably a suitable Winamp plugin to do what you want, but sometimes the simplest solutions are the easiest. I'd suggest trying Winamp on shuffle with media library folder monitoring enabled. That way Winamp will notice when folders have been updated and will update the playlist accordingly.

Am just wanting to have more control over my playlists...
Ultimately, I would like to have a program that will automatically turn on at a set time, generate its own playlists etc according to my prefs then turn off at a set time and do it all again the next day...

For example... play 2 songs from my favourites list, followed by 1 song from 80's followed by one Cafe/instrumental song...
Kind of like a rotation that a radio station would use i.e 1xhotlist, 1 xgold, 1xrecurrent, 1xhotlist, 2xrecurrent, 1 xhotlist

Would be good if it only scheduled the next event one or two songs in advance (not scheduling 100songs at a time)

I have been down the Winamp/iTunes plug-in route... havent found any that suit really...
they all suggest using radio automation/scheduling software then importing playlists to Winamp...

The problem with scheduling software is i would have to set rules around every one of my 20,000 odd songs and assign them to genres and such... Would be a very time consuming task (5-6 tabs of info to fill on every song)

Have you had a look at StationPlaylist Creator or SAM Broadcaster?

They're designed for running your own private radio station, so they should fit the bill.
