Hi guys!

My GF and I both play World of Warcraft, me on my nice new box and she on my ancient one.

The old box really isn't cutting it anymore, so i want to upgrade it to 2GB RAM and put in a new graphics card.

It's currently got a GeForce4 Ti-4200 card in it, and I was wondering if you guys could suggest a cheap, decent upgrade.

It doesn't have to be able to run anything too fancy, no DX10 required. I just want her to be able to play wow with her view distance up :)

I'd REALLY appreciate some advice.

Feel free to give alternative options, general advice on which specs to look for in a card (e.g. "Core clock speed is more important than memory bandwidth" or whatever), or just generally lambast me for playing WoW :-)

Yours sincerely,

(p.s. I can upload the Belarc advisor display for the old box if that'll help you :)

That would mean its AGP, which is getting expensive these days due to lack of supply, so your bang for buck is lower.
Anyway, any of these should be fine, ranked in order of preference, price and performance. <-- Has lower quality memory, GDDR2 vs GDDR3 above, so lower performance, but cheaper.

Another options are the 7600GS. Check trademe to see if theres a bargain you can pick up.

Thanks heaps! These look like just the ticket :-)

I'm pretty sure my motherboard's AGP slot is 8x. I don't know why I think that, but the large "AGP 8x" label on it was a fairly obvious hint ;-)

Further suggestions are welcome too!
