I'm backing up my Lenovo tablet I use for gigs. There's plenty of Word files including .docx. They show up on my laptop as 'File Folders' not Word docs.

Has anyone experienced this before and knows what's going on? I can't find answers anywhere.

Cheers

They're Zip files, so I wonder whether some sort of archiving tool has 'claimed' them. Do you have any sort of file compression tool that might be a suspect here?

Thanks for that. Maybe? I can only find "Express Zip" on my laptop. I'll have a hunt around. The weird thing is that I've done it before a number of times and it's been fine.

I'll look into this though. Thanks.

Do you have Word? Start Word and then open the file/folder to see what happens?

Thanks for that.

Even with Word open they still only present and act like Folders...not files.

Weirdly...I've accessed the folders directly on the Lenovo Tablet through Windows Explorer on the laptop and they even show on the tablet as Folders...not Word docs. When I access them on the tablet however, they present and act like docs. So confusing.

What OS is the tablet? Is it Windows 10?

I would try changing the file association for .docx in Windows Settings and assigning it to MS Word?

If its not Windows and is like an Android tablet then obviously the above wont apply so ignore, couldnt see it mentioned earlier however.
