Any thoughts on a current model laptop for general business usage in the $2000+ range

Dont need  to be a 2in one type, just a standard laptop 15 inch screen 16 gb etc

prefer 2019 or 2020 model

Usual suspects.  HP EliteBook/ProBook/x360/etc, Lenovo ThinkPad/X1/etc, Dell Inspiron/XPS/etc, Microsoft Surface Laptop/Book/etc.

Currently have HP EliteBook and previously had a Lenovo. If I were buying, would look at both.

Depends what you using it for.

I personally like HP Elitebooks and Macbook Pros if you like Mac.

Lenovo is probably the other brand I would consider.

Im not a fan of dells, and Toshibas.

My pick would be HP Probook or HP Elitebook. Not much difference between then, except in the current generation probook has ethernet and elitebook doesn't. Probook are great value for a reliable machine.

I have used Dell Latitude laptops for years. Every one I've bought has delivered great reliability and value for money. But I've always bought refurbished, never brand new.

Edit to add: more info would be needed for suitable recommendations. For example, preference for: screen resolution, glossy/matte display, keyboard quality, whether numeric keypad is existent/absent.

That's a consumer model notebook. It's running W10 Home and only has a 1 year warranty.

As others have suggested, buy an Elitebook.

Which elitebook do think is comparable?

https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/NBKHNB4496524/HP-Elitebook-850-G6-Business-Ultrabook-156-FHD-Int

less ram and less HD space. Not to mention no touch screen and as for WIN10 home thats not much of an issue. It will be mostly used in a home based situation. Not connecting to a work network.

Choose from this list of Probooks rather than Elitebooks based on your RAM / specs you require. My understanding is there's not really much difference between the two, Elitebook just has a few more enterprise features. The Probook 14" my wife has is really good, really fast.

I have an Elitebook 850. (one of the latest ones).

The keyboard completely failed when I was cleaning it and had to be replaced. Now the microphone is broken on it so I need to do my Teams calls on my phone.

Can't say I'm too impressed with it compared to my personal Macbook Pro.

If I were to get a new Windows laptop, I would serious consider a Thinkpad.

ProBooks don't have the 3 year warranty by default that the EliteBooks do, it's an optional extra upgrade via authorized HP resellers.  Last I looked I'm pretty sure it was cheaper to buy an EliteBook than a similar Probook + 3 year HP warranty upgrade (proper HP warranty upgrade that is, not to be confused with "Extended Warranty" crud)

Slightly different take on the conversations so far - are you the laptop as just a laptop? I.e. no external keyboard / mouse / monitor?

If so I would recommend you place the usability of the keyboard and the size / aspect ratio of the screen at the top of the priorities.  I did a similar exercise last year and ended up with a Surface Laptop 2 (off geekzone of course!!!!).  Excellent keyboard, and the 3 by 2 aspect ratio is excellent, particularly for writing and coding.

Only downside was I wish I had got 16GB instead of 8GB, but that's only because of tools like Power BI, Visual Studio, etc. are memory hungry.

The RAM is upgradeable on the Elitebook, although it was a bit tricky getting the cover off.

Failures do happen, but 2 separate failures in one unit is definitely not ideal. In contrast the last smaller business I worked at that had a fleet of several dozen 1030's (which is closer to the the elite equivalent of the 360 the OP linked), and we only had 3 issues in the 3 years I was there, 2 of which were battery swell and the other turned out to be a dock fault rather than the notebook.

That aside, why not just get the microphone replaced, Elitebooks have onsite warranties and generally are next business day repairs.
