I have an i5 Mid tower Hyper-V test/demo/homelab host pulling at idle around 120w and it's getting pretty long in the tooth, though it performs OK.

I am looking to replace it with a much more compact unit, which draws hopefully, much less power.

My current host has 16GB, and it's doing OK, but I think I'd go for 24/32GB this time around.

Can anyone recommend a build. I'll need a 1TB NVME drive in it.

I am OK with AMD/Intel so long as the performance is OK and it's power efficient.

If you're going to buy / assemble it yourself I'd go with a Ryzen 5 /7 mini itx build.

If you want something out of the box "ish". Look at something along the lines of an HP elitedesk 800 DM, I currently use an ex lease gen2 model with an i7, 2TB nvme and 32GB ram which is a 35w unit.

I am not fussed which way I go to be honest. What gen 800 are you using?

I'm using an Intel NUC i5-7260U with 16GB RAM to run my daily Windows 10 Pro plus a Server 2019 VM on Hyper-V.
The server is running WDS for network booting devices on my workshop bench.
I only have a 512GB NVMe but it can go bigger if needed.
Not sure what the Max RAM is but probably 32GB. (2x16GB modules)

The Geek in me wants to consider a Mini ITX Ryzen 5600X, 32GB and 1TB.

Any idea what the power consumption at idle and peak of that would be?
