Hey,
the other night one of my computers seemed to freeze up (Running ubuntu).
now it dosent seem to boot up, yet even post (screen is completely unresponsive).
i have tested GPU and its fine. all hard drives are sweet, and there shouldnt be anything wrong with the motherboard or PSU.
The one piece of hardware i suspect as being faulty is the CPU! its an AMD sempron 2400+ origanilly running at 1.66Ghz but i was over-cloocking it to 1.75Ghz (so it read as an AMD sempron 2500+). it had been over-clocked for around a week and was running fine (all temps seemed to be fine).
Just wanted your opinion on this, whether it is a Cpu problem or something diffrent?!?!? (maybe someone has had this experence?)
Also does frying your CPU affect the motherboard, (does it short circuit or other during the process?!?!?)
and lastly if it was to be a CPU failure would i be better to change to an AMD athlon rather than a sempron?
theres one im feeling pretty good about (AMD athlon 64 3500+) although i would need to cheak if my motherboard is 64-bit compadable.
the computer is more for me to learn rather than me relying on it for everything so im ready to experiment with any ideas that you may have!
i will post specs later tonite.
thanks for all your input as this forum has been extreamly helpful to me in the past!
cheers
