Hi,

Been trying to get this done all day so it's time to ask :)

I've got XP installed on a 20GB HDD and I need to clone that drive onto a 10GB drive. The 20GB drive is only 20% full so it will fit easy on the 10GB.

I'm trying to find CD bootable cloning software that will allow me to do this. I can't load the OS and run driving cloning software (seems like there's lots of apps that can do that), so it has to be a live CD/bootable CD thing.

I've tried Clonezilla which would have worked but it does not support large HDD -> small HDD.
I've seen some references in threads I found via google that Ghost 2003 can do it, but that s/w is no longer for sale in NZ.

Does anyone know what else I could use? I have a large USB HDD so if I boot to some imaging software and write and image to my USB drive and then restore it to the blank HDD that would be ok as well.

Cheers

There is free software out there that will shrink partitions, then you should be able to clone it easily using other free products.

How is the partition formatted? NTFS, FAT32..?
