Hi folks

We have been blocking old Microsoft Internet Explorer for months now - we still see a few thousand requests coming in from those old browsers.

If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, it should really be time to get rid of those. Or if this is required for some specific task, at least use a different machine to browse the Internet.

Out of curiosity what is the operating system mix you are seeing with that browser agent?

Could be they're from work computers and the company refuses to upgrade and disallows 3rd party browsers.

It could be. Still blocked. Some are actually repeating requests three times, at one minute intervals. Don't look human to me.

Blocked anyway. They are a very small number daily, compared to mainstream browsers.

All our company PC's and laptops open up our extranet site in Internet Explorer on start-up. It is a pain always getting the no internet page when starting a laptop away from the workshop and just wanting to connect to a customer's machine for diagnosis.

We also get the usual warning that Internet Explorer is out of date, use another browser, when opening our company Workplace site. Some of the websites of manufacturers we are agents for block IE, so we have to close it and use Edge, Chrome, or Firefox.

I have been asking for ages to get this fixed, but it seems to either fall on deaf ears or is put in the too hard basket.

At least since we migrated to W10, most of our computers don't have Windows update turned off by default.

Would IE work with Geekzone if the header was spoofed? I know that is ridiculous but someone somewhere is bound to try it.

Sure it should. But why bother spoofing a US on Internet Explorer? You would already be using a completely unsafe browser so might as well give your house keys to a burglar.
