Hi all

Currently have a sliverstone AIO doing a good job - its pretty loud however. I have thought about replacing the fans but....

Perhaps a better brand is needed. I have seen ones that plug into the USB motherboard header rather than the normal fan slot? Seems nicer.

Any recommendations?

What is the Model number ?

Also is the AIO using the onboard motherboard fan controller ? that should regulate the fan speed and noise.  You can with newer motherboards set fan speed curves in the bios or through the motherboard manfufactures apps.

what size is it? a 120 will always be louder than a 360 as it has to work harder to get rid of the heat

Good points, its a 240MM Cooler Master ML240L V2 RGB.

Seems the standard fan settings is what it is. On COD it gets louder so the Motherboard is doing its job correctly. Its cooling a 3700x

What temps are you seeing? have you tried playing with the fan profiles to quiet things down.

Bear in mind that the vast majority of AIOs are the same thing with different LEDs and fans. Asetek hold the patent for putting the pump in the block and so OEM for most brands.

Better fans would be a good place to start, you can also play around with the fan curve.

Legit? Good to know.

I wonder if a air cooled CPU cooler would be better. One of those noctua would be more quiet than this.

Running at 38c. Fans at 1700rpm.

Yeah, and if the fans remain loud change the fans.

So turns out I'm the tool.

I had one of the case fans plugged into the second onboard AIO pump plug. Motherboard has two.

For whatever reason the mobo had all the fans running at 1700.

Now correctly placed, I'm getting 700rpm and its quiet enough....

zzzz Thanks for the help.

For anyone looking for better fans I've found Dark Rock products (Amazon US link - might be in AU) to be great - quieter / better than Noctua. The Dark Rock Pro 4 CPU cooler is quiet and effective - different from the AIO that this thread is talking about though. I'll be looking for a Dark Rock case next time I change.
