Hi

I currently have a brother HL1210W mono-laser printer which is great but is not compatible with airprint, hence any printing needs to be done from a laptop (airprint doesnt recognise it anyway)

I would really like a printer that is in the same price range but you can print from the iphone.  Can anyone suggest any models.  Keen on brother as the current printer has been very reliable.

I'd pick one from this list myself: https://support.apple.com/en-nz/HT201311

As an alternative, if you're happy with your current printer, you could consider setting up a Raspberry Pi for AirPrint server. Sure, maybe more hassle than you want. Or, a fun tinkering project: https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-airprint/

Did that myself, although not for Airprint, to turn an old USB only Brother HL-2140 into a network shared device. Years old printer (I think it only cost around $50 originally), but it seemed a shame to get rid of it when it was still so reliable. Works like a charm.

Thanks for that.  When I got the printer, I still had an iphone 6 which is limited to IOS 12.  From memory it did not work.  I have since updated my phone, and now I can actually use it, but it seems limited to itunes file sharing which I do not do. I cannot seem to see documents from 'files'.  Ideally being able to print a PDF directly out of gmail would be useful.  None the less, it all works from my laptop.

You can use iPrint&Scan every where I believe, ‘open with’/‘send to’ with other app then browse to iPrint&Scan.

I see that option now.  Thanks.  Very useful
