Hi Guys,

I am having problems with firefox completely locking up my PC when I visit certain websites - Bankdirect being the main one - it also does it occaisionally when my wife uses Bebo.

Completely locks up, cant move mouse - unresponsive to keyboard, basically have to restart. No problems with the same sites using IE7

From memory (i'm at work so cant verify)  Its firefox 3.0 and I'm running vista home premium on a 2gb core2 duo 2.2

Any ideas?

Cheers

Try some of these steps:

1:  Uninstall any non default 3rd party search bars/toolbars (Yahoo, Microsoft, Google)
2:  Disable firefox addons (Tools > Addons)
3:  Update Flash player plugin to the latest version (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/)
4:  Update shockwave player to the latest version (http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/)
5:  Update silverlight to the latest version (http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/resources/install.aspx)

I am also a BankDirect customer and use Firefox 3.0 to access my bank accounts every few days.  I have never had the slightest problem.

However, I am running Windows XP rather than Vista Cool

Probably not what you wanted to hear, but there is nothing wrong with FF 3.0 per se.  On the contrary, IE 7 used to regularly crash for me, whereas FF 3.0 hardly ever does.  I guess you have a choice of ditching your O/S in favour of XP or ditching FF 3.0.  I know which I would choose Smile

Well i reinstalled flash and shockwave etc, and so far it hasn't crashed as yet - so hopefully that has solved the problem....Though to be honest I haven;t been on that pc much since I tried it.  Don't have any addons so thats definitely not the problem.  I'll monitor it and see how it goes.

Thanks for your help!
