Recently I’ve found odd behaviour when copying and pasting text from websites to a variety of places.

Instead of “The quick brown fox “

I get “The%20quick%20brown%20fox”

I’m sure someone here will know why. It doesn’t seem to be specific to where I copy from or where I paste to.

Have you tried restarting your PC?

It’s iOS 17 on Safari so far. Next time I notice it I’ll try the same copy and paste on the MBP.

I had thought it was just some internet related strangeness.

%20 is the HTML entity code for a space... but it shouldn't just randomly show up when you copy and paste. Does it happen on all sites or just one (or a few)?

Edit: Maybe I should actually read your first post, which already answered that. Do you have any browser extensions installed?

No I don’t think Safari on iOS allows you to install extensions.

It happened today (by way of example) when I copied something from Stuff and pasted it here.

It does. Copying from Safari to Geekzone is working correctly for me, so can you please check in Settings/Safari/Extensions and verify that you don't have any?

HTML encodes hex values in the form (ASCII value 32 in decimal).

%20 would be used for URL encoding, where a space is invalid. Is the text part of a link, perhaps?
