Sigh, someone has stolen the power adapter for our pc from the library.

It's an HP Pavilion All-in-One 23-q109a.

Old, came with Win8.1 originally I think.

90W power adapter??

Would look a bit like this...

Any chance someone has one of these lying around waiting to be thrown out?

Thanks.

If you have no luck with this request you could buy one from the likes of Jaycar or similar for around $130 to $190  Link to Jaycar item: For example https://www.jaycar.co.nz/132w-laptop-power-supply-12-24v-with-usb-output/p/MP3346

Cheers

Can you post the HP part# of the PSU? I can't make it out from the photo.

I'm assuming this isn't specific to the AIO PCs and might have something suitable.

That photo may or may not be the actual part, it just looks like that sort of thing.

The part number is 709566-003 I think.

I found an old 180W in amongst some random stuff I never got around to throwing out.

HP part no 669265-001.

It's for a different model of AiO.

So I really do need to know, what happens if you plug a 180W power adaptor into a device that only requires 90W?

So I just googled that, apparently the watts dont matter, the volts do.

Time to check the small print.

Assuming the voltage and polarity is correct, the device functions as expected.

Watts need to be the same or higher,

Appliances "take" as many watts as they need, having extra just helps keep the room warm but does no harm...

Too few watts and your device will overload/kill the power adaptor.....

Those plugs have three contact so you will be fine.

They basically are all the same.

And any ideas on how to prevent it being stolen again?

"Back in the Day" when computers were new and (very) expensive I saw a power adaptor being housed in a wooden box bolted to the desk...

The 240V cable went in a hole on one side and the 19V cable can out a hole on the other side, the lid of the box was screwed on and the box was screwed to the table.. ( there were a few holes drilled in the side for cooling)

That would work. Thanks.
