Never had this problem before. Checked all the printer settings and though the preview shows virtual full page coverage of the image the printed page only has image covering top LH quarter of paper.

Printing from Chrome by any chance?

No. Printing an image saved from an email. Prob. now seems to have gone after a lot of fiddling with printer settings.
