So it appears Gmail is automatically deleting emails from my inbox that are older than 12 months.

Is there anything i can do to retrieve these if they’re not in the Trash folder?

and is there a way to turn this off so emails are never automatically deleted?

Thanks in advance

Have you looked in the 'All Mail' folder?

I doubt gmail would be deleting them, especially if they're not going into the Bin.

I have emails from 20 years ago in my gmail.

Are you perhaps over your mail limit?

how do i check that? Its showing i’ve used 86% of 15GB.

on a side note this is only for 1 account my more recent gmail account. It only shows emails from March 2024 onwards, have tried all folders.

i have another older gmail account and i can see emails back to 2010.

Edit - problem solved i believe.

the default scroll in inbox and search only shows results up to one year.

to see older emails i have to apply a filter to show ‘emails older than 1 year’

strange how this only happens for one account.

my other account allows me to scroll all the way back in the inbox and search without any filters
