I'm half way through buying parts for my first computer and I decided to go for a 4850 instead of a ATI 4670 1GB.
Which would be better out of the 4850's 512MB or 1GB. I want to be able to play games like Crysis in full settings or close to full. The computer will also be used for 3D animation.
512MB or 1GB which one do I go for?
Sapphire, Gigabyte, Hightech or does anyone know where the actual ATI cards are sold?

Get a 4870 1GB. The extra RAM on the 4850 won't make that much difference.

What are the rest of the spec's?  Cpu and what size monitor (native resolution) you'll be playing at are very important when deciding what video card to go for.

HD4850 512MB or HD4870 1GB.

For Crysis, you're really wanting a GTX295.

My HD4850 overclocked certainly doesnt play it on full but it plays it pretty damn good on whatever 2nd to top is.

Crysis has impressive graphics but the gameplay and game in general is pretty zzz.

The extra 512mb is only helpfull if you play a resolutions of 1980 or higher. So get a 512 imho

You don't play with AA on much, do you? :P

When you've got filters like AA and AF applied, THATS where the RAM makes the difference.

And a GTX295 for Crysis? Please! I get around 40fps with everything on high at 1650!

My specs so far are:

Asus p5kpl/1600 CrossfireX ready
Intel E8400 3.00GHZ 45nm
Gskill 4gb DDR2
Monitor: LG w2242t 22" 1680x1050
          or BenQ T2200HD 21.5 widescreen 1920x1080
Don't know which one I'm going to get yet.
The 4850 1GB is streaching my budget I might be able to go for the 4870 1GB since its only $50 more on price spy. Can anyone tell me if they have had any experience with PC Onlie Shop and if they were good or bad to deal with, or is there another place to buy ATI cards from.
As for playing crysis I will try the demo before I buy it but me and my mates are looking for a good LAN game to play thats better than the Halo CE that we got at the moment.

4870 1gb is probably the best bang for buck gpu at the moment if you are planning to game at 1680 x and above.

I wouldn't buy from PC Online Shop due to poor feedbacks I've heard.

XP are decent but out of stock for the cheaper one I think. The overclocked one is nice.

Computer Lounge would be next shop I'd buy from off that pricespy list.
