Been a while since I last built a PC.  Working on making a HTPC.

What is a BTX motherboard, and will it fit in a M-ATX case?

IIRC, BTX is a similar size to ATX but with improvements to mechanical design; better cooling performance and different I/O connector placements etc.

By M-ATX I'm guessing you mean Micro ATX which is quite a bit smaller than standard ATX, so I doubt that a BTX board would fit in.

BTX was designed to replace ATX.

Its different in a number of ways, so you won't be able to use it with an ATX case.

The CPU is located at the front, and is in a diamond layout, rather than a square layout. It's designed to have a fan at the front of the case which then sucks air in and over the heatsink of the CPU and then out the back.

All the PCI, PCIe exansion slots etc are over the other side as well.
