I'm in the market for an ergonomic mouse, hours at the computer is starting to take its toll on my shoulder and arm.

There are so many options, what do people here use and recommend? Cheers.

I use Microsoft Trackball Optical for 3 of my seats, but they are no longer made. Replaced by the Microsoft Trackball Explorer, but haven't used that model, and looks quite different to the Optical Explorer.
3M had/has an ergonomic mouse that looks like a joystick, and is supposed to have the hand in a natural vertical orientation. Using a standard mouse twists the arm and wrist thru 90 degrees, as well as the "claw" grab.

It's not strictly an ergonomic mouse but I recommend Logitech MX518's, great price/performance as they are around $60 thesedays and a nice contoured shape.

Are you the type that uses your whole hand to move the mouse around or you sort of move it with your fingertips?

Tend to move it around with my fingertips, with my wrist resting on a gel mouse pad.

I alternate between a cheapo 3M Ergonomic Optical Mouse and normal mouse - does the job nicely on the old RSI
