I'm after a solution or recommendations for winamp (plugin?) specifically, and thought that GeekZone might have some people switched on with regards to good software and tweaks etc - as opposed to going to the (confusing) winamp.com forums...

Is this outside the scope of geekzone?

Might I suggest a general software discussion? I think it would go well to compliment the other existing forums as geekzone has much of the hardware side of things down.

If I've overlooked anything, I apologise, and can you please point me in the right direction?

ones I have used:

enhancer - a free pretty decent DSP plugin
kill winamp - can play internet stream and tell it to stop after a time, good to not leave it on all night
resumer - when you next open winamp, it'll remember what song you were on last

that's about all I really use.

I'm wanting to track down a plugin that plays a song by the same artist, instead of choosing a random song...

it'd be cool to have functionality to choose a track from the same album, or year (for example) too.

I know it's quick and dirty but just add all your songs to one playlist and sort by artist?

There used to be a great plugin called quick tunes which used to do exactly what you wanted. But with version 5 of winamp it stopped working.

I do the suggestion that nate provided. Also I only play songs where the playcount = 0 (until I have gone through all, then I changed to playcount = 1). Means I keep going through all of my collection.
