More than likely a quad core and they have added the combined speed together, there are a few dodgy traders on Trademe that like to use that tactic to sell PC's to the less tech savy :-(

Good point. It does look dodgy, trying to trick those who aren't "in the know".

From because of that, you shouldn't buy from that Trader. The specs aren't amazing anyway. It really depends on what you would like to do with your PC. It is loaded with Windows 7 - the trial version, making you buy a full copy from the trader. Skip it, look at someone else.

That system has some odd choices, the video cards... crossfired 4650's seriously?

Some of the brand choices are low end, won't have great reliablity for example the raidmax case, what's the quality of the psu going to be like?  The AS Rock motherboard how reliable is that going to be compared to an Asus or Gigabyte?

It comes with Windows 7 RC instead of the real thing, that's pretty dumb considering Windows 7 is out now and home premium oem isn't that much (certainly not the $300ish quoted in that list more like $199).

Lets start at the begining with you telling us:

1: What is your total budget for this machine, how much do you want to spend max on this?
2: What games you want to play?
3: What parts you need, do you need everything (Cpu, Motherboard, Memory, Hard Drive, Cooling, Video card, Case, Psu, Dvd Drive, LCD monitor, OS, Keyboard, Mouse) or are you reusing some parts you have already?

thanks, well my budget is about $2,000
if you look on trademe, every listing has multiplied the processor speed.'
for example quad core 3 ghz will be listed as 12ghz. everyone does it.
i have a full version of windows 7 laying in my cupboard somewhere so thats ok.
i want to play the newest games out, and games in the future. for the pc im looking to pay about $1,700 max, because i need money for a monitor.
i already have mouse and keyboards.
yes i need everything, cant salvage anything from my laptop;

b0untypure1 Sent you a Pm.

$341 for a OEM copy of windows 7 is pretty pricey,

Avoid PCs on Trademe IMHO.... they always talk up the specs (11ghz..right...) dont always use the best components....

Check out someone like www.playtech.co.nz - they build damn nice machines and their pricing is good as anyones.

Yeah definitely, Playtech, Computer Lounge, or just try building one yourself, we can help you out

if you are in Welly I could even spin out and give you a hand

Avoid that deal above, the 500w PSU is included in the case, a Raidmax one, while it would be enough to power 2x 4650s for a while, it'll blow, like most Raidmax PSUs, bad quality.

case - hurricane $110 including shipping and PSU
Mobo - $155 incl shipping
Ram 6gb - $210 at PP.co.nz 3x2gb OCZ including heatsinks
1.5TB HDD WD Greenpower - $175
DVD-rW - $46
HIS 4650s $75 each x 2 at the moment - $150
iCore i5 2.66ghz $315
= $1161 total cost of building the same system + 30 minutes of your time

Probably from Pricespy ;)

Did you have a look at Playtechs offerings ?
They may seem pricey after looking at Vinnieg's pricing, but theyre pre-built/installed/tested and only one place to return to for any warranty issues etc.

Ragnor : Apparently Asrock is Asus's budget brand... so youd hope Asrock gear would be pretty good :)

haha yeah pricespy :) run the mill prices

You can get Computerlounge to match almost all pricespy websites

Playtech are also amazing, do a google search on GPforums retailers thread, that'll tell you all the companies to go for or watch out for

Asrock are fine yeah :) nothing wrong with them

I'd take this machine out of the Playtech ones:
http://www.playtech.co.nz/product.php?action=showdetail&id=8230

Or this one, the new Phenoms are good CPUs even vs the i7/i5s, have a look at some reviews:

Hey mate,

If you have $2000 to spend, you can seriously get yourself a fully spec-ed up machine at the likes of Playtech, as mentioned above by others. There is no need to go through TradeMe and face the risks:)

I agree 100% if I was you I would get email quotes from Playtech and Computer Lounge for a ~$2000 gaming machine system including LCD monitor excluding keyboard, mouse and OS.
