G'day guys, just wondering whether a 1Tb WD Black would be too hot for 5 hours maximum per day usage in a WD MyBook Studio Edition with no fans? Or would I have to start attaching cooling devices to it?

Thanks heaps :D

you would want to get cooling devices unless the HD is in an enclosure with proper cooling , little fan ect

Better off getting a WD Green (rather than the Black) for an external enclosure. USB will be the bottleneck rather than the drive most likely anyway.

Yeah I know, just I was given it, so I thought putting it in my external would be a good use for it. It seems to be alright, low enough temperatures. I'll incorporate a fan into it sometime. Thanks guys
