I keep getting a balloon message appear every few hours saying that this device can run faster if plugged into a usb 2.0 port, which follows the usual USB ding dong noise before hand.

This occurs when i haven't connected any usb devices to my computer so i'm a bit confused as to why it's popping up.

My question is; are all keyboards and mouses USB 1.1? If so, could this be randomly causing the message to appear??

I've disabled the messages form appearing but i'd like to find out why they occur in the first place.

Probably the OS is placing the USB Root Hub in sleep mode to save energy and then trying to bring it up again? See if changing the power management option in device manager changes this behaviour.

And moved this to correct forum.

The USB hub is set to allow the computer to turn off this device to save power, which i have unticked.

I'm thinking if this was causing the issue, the same message would appear when i plugged in each USB device in the first place. But the fact is, when i go through and manually plug in each USB device (mouse, keyboard and printer) no message appears, it only appears randomly which is what is really frustrating me.
