I just grabbed a 2tb WD green drive from stock to add to our ghost backup server. Noticed this sticker on the front stating something about it being an Advanced format drive, hadnt seen this before so i read the blurb and didnt think it was going to affect us.
Wrong.
What the heck are these drives! for the life of me i cant format this thing, tried the drive alignement tool from WD and it said there was nothing to do as it was ready to go so tried partition magic, acronis disk director, windows 7 disk management, they all see it as a 32mb partition, 32mb not even gb. Tried setting the jumper on pin 7-8, no go. im at a loss as to what to do
Anyone had any experiences with these drives?
As stated its going to be a spare drive in our rapid deployment/ghost server, so dosnt need to be setup for xp or anything, it states on the sticker that if your not using xp you dont need to do anything to the drive, that its good to go.. i beg to differ, what a pain in the proverbial, this should have been a 2 minute job.. grr :)
Heres the page on WD's site about these drives if you havnt bumped into them yet Linkage
