It depends on your browser, but you will have to find where downloads are stored.

In Firefox click Tools | Options and in "General" tab you will see it. In Chrome click Options and in the "Under the Hood" tab scroll down to Downloads.

If you are using Internet Explorer then downlaods will be in your home folder\Downloads folder by default.

In Internet Explorer you might have clicked the option to never ask and always save. In this case check this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/177976

No one can really help you if you don't tell them the operating system and application you're using to do whatever it is you say isn't working...and even that isn't clear.

So far, you've posted the functional equivalent of:

"blah blah problem blah attachment blah blah".

No useful information. :-)  Like any language, you need to learn enough tech vocabulary to communicate effectively.

Chicken / egg, I suppose.

Sometimes posting a video of what you're trying to do on YouTube can by-pass the inability to describe it in any useful way. Then we can at least see it.

Thanks for above guys
Sorry for not giving enough info. I'm using firefox (on windows 7 ultimate) Before it used to download attachments and when finished downloading, it opened it automatically after confirming that I did want to open in that programme eg word or PDF etc.

In this case check the download options as explained in my first reply.

I think the problem was Trend Micro - when disabled- downloading works fine as before. (Nothing used to show in the downloads folder when trend was on- had changed settings to save in downloads folder instead of asking all the time where to save)- must have been one of its recent downloads-anyone else had similar problem?

If you want a good free antivirus all depends on what os you using but overall the Avira free has the highest detection rate and not so intrusive i use it in my daugter's computer and no issues.

check this site
