Just installing a Gigabyte X58a-Ud3r and need to know about the plug to the PSU instead of the usual 2x2 plug there is a 2x4 plug in its place does anyone know if a 2x2 12v plug be used in it or does it require a new psu?

It will probably need a new PSU. I doubt using one connector will give your board enough power.

You may only need the 2x4 connector if you're using a 130W extreme edition i7. Otherwise the standard 2x2 connector should work.
